North Berwick

A few hours at the seaside in North Berwick on Scotland's East Coast

A lovely spot on Scotland’s east coast, we were down visiting for the day, it was nice to get out in the sunshine once again. Lots of activity out on the water, a lovely stretch of seafront, getting your shoes and socks off to walk in sand and cold shallow water is so refreshing. A clean sandy beach makes all the difference, the large skip of seaweed is a good sign that the local authorities have taken time out to care about the town’s appearance.

The rescue boat in the boat house was nice colourful shot.

Great to see kids running about in the good weather whilst mums sit back and relax and take-in the harbour views from the public seats.

A mixture of slow shutter (tripod) and hand held shots... ie it was blowing a gale, to capture the wind socks it had to be fast enough shutter speed hand help to try and freeze the motion not blur it. Quite a challenge in the dark!

Just got my Black rapid the other day, tried it out for the first time, one thing for sure it certainly feels better on the old shoulders than the standard camera strap,  I just don’t know if I’ll have the confidence to wear as often as I would like to. I suppose a dark top / t-shirt would help it blend in and be less conspicuous.

Hearts, Hearts, glorious Hearts, It's down at Tynecastle they bide, the talk of the toon are the boys in maroon and Auld Reekie supports them with pride. Their Tynecastle Stadium is based in Gorgie, their colours are maroon and white.

The Badge

The Heart Badge adorned on the Hearts Football Strip is based on the Heart of Midlothian mosaic on the Royal Mile. Tourists to Edinburgh will frequently observe people spitting on the Heart. Why would you spit in the Heart? Well, there are several assumptions associated with this Scottish Tradition ranging from the discontent against authority to the “it will bring you good luck” element and apparently if you are lovers it’s not in your best interest to stand in the centre and kiss.
