Bangour Village Hospital
Abandoned Asylum - Bangour Hospital West Lothian Scotland
Village Hospital - Derelict Psychiatric Asylum
Abandoned Building and Psychiatric Hospital is now a Deserted Communitie
Hill of the Wild Goats, the hospital was requisitioned by the government War Office during both wars when it became "Edinburgh War Hospital" and "The Scottish Emergency Medical Hospital", reverting back to a psychiatric hospital between and after the wars. This beautiful place is vast and now sadly derelict. Although the first patients were admitted in June 1904, Bangour was officially opened as an asylum in October 1906.
Today was just a scout about, a recce for a future photography visit. Some pictures and photographs taken but will defiantly return for an in-depth undertaking and a comprehensive series of photos. Not every photographers cup of tea but an abundance of “A listed” buildings with lots of character and colour made it an attractive and appealing location for a photographer. I particularly liked this old “gardener’s shed” the ageing wood, flaky neglected paintwork ignored and uncared for just cried out “photograph me”. It’s easy to see that many years have gone by with little preservation, this abandoned village vacated by all residents since 2004 is deserted and desolate, I wont be going alone, especially in the dark, the big feardy that I am. Located just outside Dechmont in West Lothian Scotland UK you will find Bangour Village Hospital – “Hill of the Wild Goats” If this isn’t your bag, McArthurGlen Designer Outlets is close by in Livigston, a lot more civilised! and shops that sell coffee!
