Welcome to our webpage!  We got engaged in Kinlochleven on 20 June 2009 and have been planning our wedding ever since!  We've created this wedpage as a fun, convenient, and special way for friends and family who are both near and far to participate and celebrate with us. Here you can read about how we met, all about the stag and hen events and find out a bit about ourselves. Thank you to all our friends and family for your love and support over the years.

Bride’s Hen Weekend! 17th - 19th June 2011

Thank you so much to Lesley Gordon and Tracey Stewart for making this a weekend to remember. It was brilliant from the start of the weekend at Lesley’s house with the surprise guest on the Friday night being Gill Gibb and the forever funny comment “your rabbit is on crutches” from Yvonne Hutchison to the end of the weekend in the Railway with DJ Lesley!   The Saturday was spent in a rather wet and cold field in South Queensferry playing very enjoyable Highland Games.  From tossing the caber to the farmers dash, throwing the haggis to tug o war, amongst others.

Well done to Tracey Stewart for winning the champers for throwing the haggis and well done to all for surviving the events, they were brilliant.  To end the events Yvonne Hutchison and myself found ourselves in sumo suits.  This was the best experience I have ever had, it was absolutely hysterical and I still laugh about it now. This is something I would highly recommend to anyone.

We then headed to Kirkhill Mansions for a lovely dinner and evening entertainment! From the cornflake box game to Isla Fraser and Gill Gibb taking advantage of the hot tub sipping bubbly into the early hours of the morning.

Thank you so much girls it was the best weekend I have ever had and still have no idea how I survived it!  xxx

Grooms Day – Stagnight

16th July 2011

A great day was had by all even with the weather being as bad as it was. It started with outdoor field karting at Don Coyote in Lamancha.   After a rather dry start the rain came down which meant we had to stop karting as due to the rain and thunder storm it was rather unsafe for a while.  Once we got back into it, it was rather muddy but a great laugh, the boiler suits were meant to keep us dry and clean but when getting in the kart to sit in a puddle of water, it was doubtful they would make any difference, hence Iain Hewitt deciding to take his off and just deal with the mess!

Well done to Steven Brown for the fastest time on the day. Don’t think Louise appreciated all the muddy shoes, soaking towels and rather dirty bathroom when she came home. The evening meal was eventful with Craig Currie appearing in his teenage mutant ninja turtle costume!  We don’t think he made it to the fancy dress party he was meant to be going to.  Frankenstein’s was a hit with us all and for those of us that had Jager Bombs, well I am sure the memories of the evening will come back soon!  Thanks to Tracey and Colin for the stag after party!

Wedding Date

20th August 2011

We got married at Barony Castle on Saturday 20th August and it was a glorious day. Hot and sunny, our prayers had been answered. It was the best day of our lives and we could not have asked for any more than we had. Thank you to all who came along to make our day the best day we have both ever had.

About Us

The Bride

I was born and brought up in Penicuik.  Attended Cuiken Primary School then went onto Penicuik High School.   After leaving school I had a few jobs along the way finally settling now in Simpson & Marwick Solicitors.    After living with my brother Ewan for many years it was time to ship him out and ship in Stuart!  We have now been living together for some time and have many plans for our wee pad.

The Groom

I grew up in Edinburgh many moons ago and attended WHEC where that helped me aim towards the job I wanted to do. I was a mechanic for nearly 18 years before taking a break to bring up my three children, Alan (18), Kat (16) and Nicola (13).  I then went on to work at Murrayfield Stadium and now work at Shower Doctor.   I also lived with my brother for some time before moving in with Louise.

The Marriage Proposal

It was 20th June 2009 and we were on holiday celebrating being together for one year in the lovely Kinlochleven.  Stuart decided we were to go for a walk so off we went.  After trundling through streams, over fences, through muddy puddles we eventually reached Grey Mares Waterfall which we had been to the year before.  It is beautiful.  There Stuart asked me to close my eyes and he got down on one knee (in a rather muddy puddle) and said the words, “will you marry me”.  I was absolutely gobsmacked and after crying for about 5 minutes finally managed to say “yes”.  It was lovely.  I do think the few people that went past us must have thought we were mad.

Maid of Honour - Sarah Kay

Sarah is our Maid of Honour. She lives with Louise’s brother Ewan in Gorebridge. They have been together for just over 11 years.  They must be next!   They have their lovely dogs Brody and Timo which they both adore.  Sarah and Louise have got on very well for many years and Sarah has loved the build up to the day with all the shopping for dresses and shoes. She is taking a well earned break to go to Egypt for week before the wedding so she is nice and relaxed and bronzed for coming home.

Best Man - Alan Troake

Alan is Stuart’s son and our best man for the day. He is currently at university and has enjoyed the run up to the day. He was brilliant, his speech was fantastic and made everyone laugh. After the stress of the day, Alan could be found most of the evening at the bar, holding it up, or rather it holding him up!

Bridesmaids - Kat Troake and Nicola Troake

Kat is Stuart’s eldest daughter and Nicola his youngest. The girls looked stunning on the day and their help was very much appreciated on the day in helping to keep Louise as calm as possible, that in itself would have been a task.

Hair & Makeup – Lorraine Brown
Tiara and Veil – Something borrowed from Tracey Stewart
Cake – Laura MacDonald made us the fantastic wedding cakes which were loved by everyone, spectacular.
