Getting married in Scotland - Emma & Aurelien

April - Grooms Day - Stag Night in Dublin 8th – 10th
Aureliens’ Best Man Andy took in charge the organisation of the stag in Dublin. Ryanair Flight, Isaaces Hostel, Grand National races and lots and lots of pubs with live band music, a fantastic week-end, great memories to treasure.
23rd April 2011

Why Cringletie - The Bride and Groom chose Crigletie due to its beautiful surroundings, rolling hills and close proximity to Edinburgh, a place close to their hearts.  As Scotland is the Brides home country, it seemed like a good idea to drag all the foreign friends and relatives over here to show them how the Scottish marry and enjoy the evening celebrations with a Ceilidh and Hog Roast.

Emma, born in Glasgow, raised in East Kilbride, studied in Glasgow then working in Edinburgh, hasn’t  travelled too far from her roots, but far enough to seek some form of adventure and independence.

Aurelien, born in Nantes, in Loire Valley – France never moved, always lived in Nantes Area, until the day he decided to give up everything and move to Scotland a few years ago.

Their Story

Grooms Version:
Aurelien met Emma back in 2006, when working in France. They spent quite a lot of time working together. After few months of living apart, they spent a week-end in Scotland, 4 years before the wedding day. And I just thought ‘let’s do it’; He packed everything in the car and moved to Scotland. Just loving everything here and spending his life with Emma means everything to him.

Brides's Version:
Having spent a lot of time in Aurelien’s company, and getting paid for the pleasure, they formed a good working and social relationship.  After many torturous months spent living apart they couldn’t resist any longer and Aurelien jumped the Francais ship to live the Scottish life.  Emma feels Aurelien settled into the Scottish way very well, however he has not lost his passion for cheese, wine and of course bread with salted butter!

The Proposal
Escaping the hustle and bustle of city life, they both escaped to the Island of Skye for a week’s holiday.  Staying in a remote cottage with real fire and sheep all around, they set off for a climb up ‘The Old Man of Storr’.  Near the top stopping to watch Babouch (family dog) dig out a rabbit hole, the clouds came in and embraced them in thick fog.  At this point Aurelien produced a ring and asked THE question in a very romantic French/Scottish accent.  How could a girl refuse?

Flower Girl
Their little treasure, their baby girl. Chosen to be their flower girl as the love of their life.  She brings joy to many friends, nursery and family with her happy nature and cheeky smile.

Emma and Aurelien were absolutely delighted to share their special day with guests who travelled a far and wide. Their effort to come was much appreciated, with this opportunity guests could appreciate the different culture for a few days and learn to embrace the passion the Scots have to enjoy themselves and just chill and not get stressed out.
