Family Break in the Scottish Borders

Wet Weekend Fun in Scotland

That time of year again when it’s nice to take advantage of the last of the good weather, well it was wet but warm. We dusted down the tent bag and throw all the gear into the trailer and headed of down the East Coast to Coldingham to meet with friends on a camping weekend. Crossslaw caravan park was an ideal pitch up for both nights, great family favourite, it offered five star facilities and we were well looked after, the kids had a ball, judjing by the noise coming from the play park. Even though it rained, how predictable, it wasn’t unexpected; we couldn’t have timed the showers better. The rain didn’t hinder the good times one bit, in fact it was great to hear the drumming on the tent during the night, so therapeutic, nice and relaxing when you are dry and all covered in. Just as well we had Super Simons tent, it offered shelter and accommodation during the social side of things in the evening. The kayaks & paddles were launched into the sea at Coldingham Bay, lovely sandy beaches to stroll for those not brave enough to dawn a wet suit and bold the North Sea. Rock pooling was Ideal to keep the kids amused, all sorts of sea fairing creatures to be had. Fish and chips at Eyemoths award winning chippy, finger liking good, fish suppers all round. On the journey home we nipped into Peesbay, another caravan park just up the road. Couldt have the kids going home all clean and tidy so it was paddle time, wading into the shallow waters getting covered in sand and ice cream, magic!
